Today in class for reading our assessment was to, define inferences in our own words. With the help of a buddy we had to define the meaning, explain it in our own words. Once we we're done we were told to write down words that describe, inferences.

I wasn't really familiar with sewing but I did manage to get it done so well done on me. Anyways I was glad to see my new cushion that I made.

How to find the area of a triangle

Tuakana How to find the area of a triangle 11/05/2017

First of all when solving the area of a triangle you would first want to find the measurement of the base and the height. Once you have collected the measurements you will first half the base, for example if the base 20 you will half it which will become 10 as your base then times it by the height. So if the height is 5 then you will go 10 x 5 = 50 square metres. So the area of a triangle is 50 square metres. This is how you solve the area of a triangle.

Letter to Michelle

Letter to Michelle
AUT Millennium

On Tuesday the 9th of May 2017 I went to this amazing place, the AUT Millennium that you organized for us. It was so amazing I couldn’t dream of anything better. The Athletics was fun as well as the Rock climbing and my favourites the Kayaking and Water safety. I did also learn a lot when I was learning about Water safety. This could really help me if I was stranded out on sea with my family. Also when doing Kayaking I learnt how to stop the kayak and turn as well as emptying the boat when there is water filled in it. It was really fun so I wrote this letter for you saying Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to come down and meet you all. Thank you.

AUT Millennium

Tuakana AUT Millennium 10/05/2017

Recount - AUT Millennium
Success Criteria -
To be successful I must use……
- I must use complex and compound sentences
- I should be able use show not tell
- I can use figurative language
- I should use past tense not present tense
- I should also use adjectives

It started off with a freezing cold morning, the sun was out in about shining bright like always, with me hearing the sound BROOM, BROOM. Although the sun was shining bright I didn’t break a sweat, I was just thinking about the place we’d be going to, the AUT Millennium. On the way we crossed the bridge and also saw some flash yachts zooming around on the ocean. It looked so amazing I felt like taking a ride on it.

Couple minutes later we were there at the AUT Millennium. I gazed upon the building thinking of how it would look if I went inside. Unfortunately we had to wait a couple more minutes for the other students to arrive. We waited and waited and finally they arrived. They quickly hopped of the bus and already I saw some people sleeping. Finally all the students were here so we headed inside.

We then went with a lady named Cathy. She wasn’t really young but she sure was fit. After a while we took our bags off and started running. We did different types of running like Jogging, Side jumping, Sprinting and a whole lot others. Once we made it to the finish line we took a 1 minute break then started doing sprinting along the track. We only went twice so that was okay. Few minutes later we went through obstacle courses as in zigzagging around the cones and jumping over handles and last but not least the ladder jump. This is when you put two feet in between the rope as fast as you can to make it to the end. At the end we had to do 12 star jumps then run back to the line ready for the next person to go. When everybody passed the obstacle courses our supervisor setted up a challenge for all of us. She said that we had to image the ground was lava and the only way to cross it to the other side was to use these yellow platform's. Unfortunately not all of us made it through because of the amount of time we had left.

We then took a long trip to Rock climbing. The instructor asked us to put our harness on ready to climb but first our instructors needed someone to demonstrate. So because nobody was confident enough I took the lead and demonstrated for the others. I was sort of scared because I didn’t trust the people who was holding me up but I sucked it up and tried my others to show how it works. Couple minutes late I came down. I was so relieved. Although I didn’t really like this one I still was happy to  be here.

We then went for swimming, my group first had to learn about water safety so we pretended we were out on sea needing help. We first had to all sit on the side of the boat and on Mrs count we would have to fall back. Falling back was my favourite part. I liked it because it really made me feel like I was out on sea and plus that was the point. The point was to pretend I was out on sea with the boat nearby. Also we learnt a lot of new techniques to help us survive in the water when we are out on sea. We only had 30 minutes so that session was over. We then moved onto Kayaking. I was the first to try it out in our group because nobody else wanted to go first so I was confident enough to do it. Then we had to hop out ready to leave. I couldn’t believe that I had a full day of fun, it was awesome. This is a day to remember.
